POSTFASHION E «RIVOLUZIONE DELLA SOSTENIBILITÀ» NELL’ECONOMIA GLOBALIZZATA

Michaela Giorgianni

Abstract

The sustainable fashion movement aimed in promoting change in the industry, but sustainability often runs the risk of being simple greenwashing and socialwashing. The paper examines some recent international, supranational and national initiatives, which have moved precisely in the direction of a sustainability revolution in the fashion industry, to protect the environment and regulate the phenomenon of exploitation in the production chain. Furthermore, an increasingly responsible attitude is spreading on the part of the companies themselves and consumers who influence the market with their purchasing choices. But all these initiatives are only the most recent steps in a long path that began to take shape already in the second half of the twentieth century in the USA and in Europe.
